Stay until the end… because this can change the way you see your life.
Because Jesus is not talking about what is seen on the outside… He is talking about the heart.
Let’s go one by one, in a clear way, as if Jesus were explaining it to us today.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
This is not about money.
It’s about recognizing: “God, I need You.”
The poor in spirit is the one who lets go of pride. The one who no longer feels self-sufficient. The one who understands that without God, they can’t.
And Jesus says: that person… already has the kingdom.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
This is not about crying for just anything.
It’s that deep pain… when you realize your mistakes, what you’ve lost, or how broken the world is.
Jesus does not ignore that pain.
He says: I will comfort you.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
Being meek is not being weak.
It’s having power… but knowing how to control it.
It’s not reacting with anger, not trying to impose yourself, not living in constant conflict.
The world says: “the strongest wins.”
Jesus says: “the one who masters himself wins.”
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
It’s that inner desire for things to be right…
to live correctly… to do what is right even when no one is watching.
Jesus promises something beautiful: that emptiness… He will fill it.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
This is clear:
if you forgive… if you show compassion… God will show compassion to you.
It’s not theory. It’s a way of living.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
A pure heart is not a perfect one…
it’s a sincere heart, without double intentions, without deceit.
Jesus says: when you are like this… you begin to see God in your life.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
Not the ones who create conflict… not the ones who divide…
but those who seek peace.
Those who lay down their pride, who reconcile, who do not fuel conflict.
Those, Jesus says, reflect God.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Doing what is right… following God… often brings rejection.
But Jesus says: don’t worry… that doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path, it means you’re on the right one.
If you notice… all the Beatitudes have something in common:
They don’t talk about success, money, fame, or power.
They talk about a transformed heart.
Jesus did not come to teach us how to be important…
He came to teach us how to be truly blessed.
Let me leave you with this reflection…
Maybe today you don’t feel “blessed.”
Maybe you are going through difficult moments, inner struggles, pain, or confusion.
But if in the middle of all that you are seeking God…
if you are trying to do what is right…
if your heart still wants to change…
Then, according to Jesus…
you are already on the right path.
I invite you to join me in this prayer:
Lord, sometimes I don’t understand Your ways, but today I want to trust what You say. Change my heart, take away my pride, teach me to live the way You want. Even if the world says otherwise, help me walk in Your truth. Amen.
