Sometimes it’s not that we don’t believe in God… it’s that we’re tired.
Tired of praying and not seeing change.
Tired of waiting for an answer that never comes.
Tired of fighting the same battles over and over again.
And in the middle of that exhaustion, a very honest… very human prayer is born:
“God… increase my faith. Help me.”
I pray every day, I read the Bible, I try to do what’s right… but when problems come, I fall. And then I feel ashamed before God. I feel like a hypocrite, I feel weak, I don’t know what to do. And from the depths of my heart I say: “Lord, help me… increase my faith, give me peace, give me security… please, I’m crying out, help me.”
That prayer doesn’t come from someone strong…
it comes from someone who can’t do it alone anymore.
There’s a moment in the Bible that has always touched me deeply. A man comes to Jesus, desperate for his son, and says something that sounds contradictory, but is so real it hurts:
“I believe… help my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24)
It’s like saying:
“Yes, I believe in You… but I also have doubts.”
“Yes, I trust… but I’m also afraid.”
“Yes, I know You can… but I don’t know if You will do it for me.”
And the most beautiful part… is that Jesus didn’t reject him.
He didn’t say, “Come back when you have more faith.”
He didn’t say, “That’s not how it works.”
He listened… and He acted.
That changes everything.
Because it teaches us that faith is not perfection… it’s dependence.
It’s not having everything figured out… it’s choosing to keep coming close, even when inside you feel confused.
Sometimes we think having faith means never doubting.
But the truth is, the most real kind of faith… is born in the middle of doubt.
It’s when you say:
“God, I don’t understand what You’re doing… but I’m still here.”
“God, I don’t see anything… but I’m not letting go of You.”
“God, it hurts… but I still believe You are here.”
That… that is faith.
Not the kind that impresses…
but the kind that endures.
There are days when you feel God close… and everything flows.
But there are other days when you pray… and all you feel is silence.
And that’s where many people give up.
But maybe… that’s exactly where your faith is growing the most.
Because when everything looks good, anyone can believe.
But when there are no signs, no answers, when everything hurts…
and you still choose to trust… something deep is happening inside you.
Maybe today you don’t need more proof…
maybe you need more trust.
Maybe God hasn’t answered the way you expected…
but that doesn’t mean He isn’t working.
Sometimes God doesn’t change the situation right away…
because first He wants to strengthen your heart.
And yes… it hurts.
But it also shapes you.
I want to leave you with this to hold deep in your heart:
Don’t be afraid to tell God exactly how you feel.
He’s not impressed by your perfection… He is moved by your honesty.
That simple, broken prayer… without perfect words…
“God, increase my faith… help me”…
can be more powerful than a thousand perfect prayers.
Because it comes from a real place.
And God… always responds to what is real.
I invite you to pray this with me, just like this, no masks:
Lord…
here I am.
You know my heart better than I do.
You know what I believe… and what I struggle to believe.
There are moments when I trust…
and moments when fear takes over.
Today I’m not pretending…
I’m being honest with You.
God, increase my faith.
When I doubt… hold me.
When I’m tired… lift me up.
When I don’t understand… teach me to trust.
I don’t want to let go of You, even when I see nothing.
I don’t want to give up, even when everything feels hard.
Help me keep believing…
even if my faith is small.
Amen.
We are Christians, connecting hearts with Christ.
