We are living in a time where technology is advancing faster than many people can process. Artificial Intelligence is everywhere: in our phones, at work, in videos, on social media… and yes, it has even reached spaces where we never imagined it would be.
And it’s normal for many Christians to feel fear.
Some say, “this doesn’t come from God.”
Others think, “this could replace people.”
And some even believe that using it is a sin.
But if we’re honest… before taking such a strong position, we need to do something we must never forget: go back to the Word of God.
Because the Bible doesn’t mention Artificial Intelligence specifically… but it does give us clear principles to discern anything new.
And this is where we begin.
The Bible says:
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is constructive. (1 Corinthians 10:23)
This is key.
Not everything that exists is automatically a sin… but not everything that exists is good for our spiritual life either.
So the right question is not:
“Is Artificial Intelligence bad?”
The right question is:
“How am I using it before God?”
Because the tool itself has no soul, no intention, no morality.
The intention comes from the heart of the person using it.
A knife can be used to prepare food… or to harm.
The problem is not the knife… it’s the hand holding it.
Artificial Intelligence works in a similar way.
Now, there is something we must clearly understand: fear does not come from God.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
God does not want us to live paralyzed by fear of what is new.
Every generation has faced advances that seemed dangerous: the printing press, the radio, television, the internet… and now Artificial Intelligence.
And in every stage, there were believers who said, “this is from the enemy”…
but there were also others who said, “how can I use this to glorify God?”
And that’s the difference.
Artificial Intelligence is not God.
It does not replace God.
It has no authority over your life.
It cannot give you salvation or true spiritual direction.
But it can be a tool.
A tool to learn.
To communicate.
To create content that touches lives.
To take the message further.
The problem begins when it is used wrongly.
When it replaces prayer.
When it substitutes reading the Bible.
When it becomes a source of truth above God.
When it is used to deceive, manipulate, or harm.
We have also seen painful cases of young people who became emotionally dependent on Artificial Intelligence, treating it like a friend, a guide, or a voice of authority. Some ended up making terrible decisions because they trusted a machine more than God, their family, mature people, or real help. And this reminds us of something very serious: Artificial Intelligence can answer questions, but it cannot care for your soul. It can talk with you, but it cannot love you the way God loves you. It can give you information, but it should never take the place of your heart, your understanding, or your relationship with the Lord.
At that point… it’s no longer just technology.
It becomes a matter of the heart.
The Bible also warns us:
“Test everything; hold on to what is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
It doesn’t say “reject everything new.”
It says “examine it.”
Discern.
Filter.
Pray.
And keep what builds you up.
So… should we prohibit Artificial Intelligence?
If we think about it… we cannot prohibit something that is already part of the world we live in.
But we can decide how it affects us.
You can use it wisely… or let it control you.
You can use it to grow… or to distract yourself.
You can use it to bless… or to harm.
The decision is not in the technology… it’s in you.
And here is something very important you must not forget:
Your relationship with God can never be replaced by any intelligence created by man.
Never.
No machine can feel God’s presence for you.
No technology can repent for you.
No system can guide you better than the Holy Spirit.
That’s why, more than fear… we need order.
Use Artificial Intelligence… but don’t stop praying.
Learn with it… but don’t stop reading the Bible.
Take advantage of its benefits… but don’t depend on it for your faith.
Because when God is at the center… everything else finds its proper place.
I leave you with this reflection… not so you can be afraid, but so you can have clarity.
Not everything new is bad… but everything must pass through God’s filter.
I invite you to join me in this prayer:
Lord, give me wisdom to live in this time.
Help me not to be led by fear, but also not by ignorance.
Teach me to use everything in my hands for Your glory.
Guard my heart from depending on things that do not come from You.
And help me keep You always at the center of my life.
Amen.
