God spoke to me through a stranger — a real testimony

Gabriela, one of the members of our SomosCristianos community, wrote to us.

And when we read her message, we knew we had to share it with you.

This is what she told us:

“It was just an ordinary day. One of those days when you carry so much inside that you walk down the street, but your mind is somewhere else. I was going through one of the hardest moments of my life. I prayed every day, but I felt like my words were not reaching anywhere. I still believed, but I had many doubts.

That day, I was sitting alone in a park. I wasn’t talking to anyone. I did not look like I wanted anyone to talk to me. I was just there, carrying my burden in silence.

Suddenly, a man came near me. An older man I had never seen before in my life. He sat close by, and after a moment, without me saying anything, without me asking him anything, he said something that left me speechless.

He said, ‘Don’t give up. What you are waiting for is closer than you think.’

That was all. Then he got up and left.

I was frozen. Because that man could not have known what I was going through. There was no way he could have known what I was carrying in that moment. And yet, his words were exactly what I needed to hear that day.

I stayed there with tears in my eyes. And in my heart, a peace came over me that I could not explain. I only knew that I was not alone. That God had seen me.”

When we read this, we stayed silent for a moment.

Because all of us have had a moment like that. A person who appeared exactly when we needed them most. A phrase spoken by someone who did not even know us, but reached the deepest part of our soul. A coincidence that was too exact to be just a coincidence.

It was not a coincidence.

The Bible says that God uses people to speak to other people. He used an angel to speak to Mary. He used a child to speak to Eli. He used a Samaritan woman to carry a message to an entire town. God is not limited to speaking to us only in church or only in prayer. He can use any person, in any place, at any moment.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10

He sees you. He knows what you are carrying. And when you need Him most, He finds a way to remind you that you are not alone.

If today you feel like no one sees you, like no one knows what you are carrying, pray this with me:

“Lord, sometimes I feel like I am carrying everything alone. But today I choose to believe that You are closer than what I feel. Open my eyes to recognize You in the people and in the moments You place in my path. And remind me that never, not even for a moment, have I been alone. Amen.”
