Stay with me for a moment… because maybe you have been chasing success on the outside, while God wants to begin transforming you on the inside.

We live in a world where almost everything pushes us to measure success by what can be seen: the money someone earns, the title they hold, the house they live in, the car they drive, the clothes they wear, the followers they gain, or the recognition they receive.

And there is nothing wrong with making progress. There is nothing wrong with studying, working, starting a business, growing, improving our family’s life, or reaching important goals. The problem begins when we believe that those things alone are success.

Because a person can have money and still have no peace.
They can have an important position and live full of anxiety.
They can receive applause from many and still feel lonely inside.
They can achieve everything they once dreamed of and still ask themselves: “Now what?”

That is why, before talking about success, we need to understand what it truly is.

True success is not just reaching higher. It is reaching higher without losing your soul. It is moving forward without drifting away from God. It is growing without becoming proud. It is reaching goals without destroying your family, without losing your peace, without forgetting your purpose, and without leaving your heart empty.

Success, from God’s perspective, is living with purpose, walking with integrity, using well the gifts He has given us, getting back up when we fall, and reaching the end able to say: “Lord, I did what I could with what You placed in my hands.”

There is a simple but very profound phrase:

“The secret to success can be summed up in three steps: love God, make an effort, and be consistent.”

It sounds simple, but within those words there is a complete path of life.

Love God

Everything begins here.

Because when God does not hold first place, any achievement can become a burden. You can have a lot and still not know why you have it. You can run fast and still not know where you are going. You can fight to reach a goal and then discover that the goal did not fill the emptiness inside of you.

Loving God does not mean living without problems. It means not walking alone in the middle of them. It means that before making decisions, you seek Him. Before giving up, you pray. Before becoming proud, you remember where everything comes from. Before falling into despair, you choose to trust again.

Jesus said it clearly:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

When God comes first, success stops being a competition against others and becomes a life with direction. We no longer live to prove something to the world, but to honor God with who we are and with what we do.

And that changes everything.

It changes the way you work.
It changes the way you treat your family.
It changes the way you handle money.
It changes the way you face losses.
It changes the way you celebrate victories.

Because when you love God, you understand that success is not only receiving blessings, but becoming a blessing.

Make an effort

But loving God does not mean staying still, waiting for everything to happen without doing anything. True faith also wakes up early, works, learns, insists, corrects itself, and tries again.

There are people who want God to open doors, but they do not want to prepare themselves to walk through them. They want a harvest, but they do not want to sow. They want a different life, but they keep making the same decisions.

That is why God told Joshua:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

God did not only tell him: “I will be with you.” He also told him: “Be strong and courageous.”

And that matters, because the presence of God does not remove our responsibility. God walks with us, strengthens us, opens the way, and sustains us, but He also expects us to take steps of faith.

Sometimes effort does not look impressive. It does not always appear as some great achievement. Many times it looks like a mother who keeps going even when she is tired. Like a father who works with honesty even when no one applauds him. Like a young person who studies while others are distracted. Like someone who decides to change their habits, take care of their health, put their life in order, ask for forgiveness, and begin again.

Effort, before God, is also obedience.

It is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about not living with our arms crossed. It is about using what God has given us. It is about doing our part, even if it feels small, even if it is slow, even if we still cannot see the result.

Because many times God does not bless comfort, but the faithfulness with which we take the next step.

Be consistent

And this is where many people stop halfway.

Because almost everyone can start. Start a diet. Start a project. Start a prayer. Start a career. Start changing. Start seeking God.

But life is not transformed only by what you start. It is transformed by what you remain committed to.

Consistency is continuing when the excitement is gone.
It is doing what is right when no one is watching.
It is praying even when you do not feel anything.
It is sowing even when you still do not see fruit.
It is getting back up after failing.
It is returning to God after being distracted.
It is not quitting just because the process takes longer than you expected.

The Bible says:

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9).

“In due season.”

That phrase confronts us, because many times we want immediate results. We want God to answer quickly, life to change quickly, the door to open quickly, the pain to pass quickly.

But God also works through processes. And sometimes, while you are waiting for Him to change your situation, He is forming something inside of you: patience, character, humility, self-control, faith.

Some people give up not because God said no, but because they did not know how to wait for the right time.

That is why consistency is so powerful. Because it does not depend on the emotion of the moment, but on a deep decision: to keep walking with God even when the road is long.

Maybe someone dreams of finishing a degree, building a business, restoring their family, or coming out of a difficult season. At first there is excitement, but then come the long nights, the bills, the exhaustion, the doubts, the criticism, and that quiet thought that says: “I cannot do this anymore.”

And that is where the heart is tested.

Not in the applause.
Not on the day of victory.
Not when everything is going well.
But when no one sees your effort and you still choose to continue.

It can also happen in simpler things, but they are just as important. A person who wants to recover their health, put their life in order, leave a bad habit behind, or draw closer to God may not see changes in one week. They may stumble. They may feel frustrated. They may think it is not worth it.

But if they try again, if they do not let go of God’s hand, if they keep taking small steps each day, one day they will look back and understand that transformation did not come all at once, but through the grace of God working in a life that did not give up.

Because true success does not always make noise.

Sometimes success is having peace in the middle of a difficult season.
Sometimes it is learning to stay quiet when before you would answer in anger.
Sometimes it is forgiving even while it still hurts.
Sometimes it is caring for your home, your marriage, your children, your heart.
Sometimes it is continuing to believe when others have already given up.
Sometimes it is going to bed tired, but with a clear conscience because you did what was right.

That is success too.

And maybe the world will not applaud it, but God sees it.

Let me leave you with this reflection: do not seek empty success, the kind that shines on the outside but feels heavy on the inside. Seek success with deep roots. A success that does not pull you away from God, but draws you closer to Him. A success that does not destroy your soul, but shapes your character. A success that does not only lift you higher, but teaches you to serve.

Love God.
Make an effort.
Be consistent.

It is not a magic formula. It is a path. And when God walks with you, even difficult processes can become blessings.

I invite you to join me in this prayer:

Lord, teach me to understand success the way You see it. Help me to seek You first, to not lose my peace by chasing empty things, and to live with purpose. Give me strength to make an effort, courage to continue when I am afraid, and consistency to not give up in the middle of the process. May every achievement in my life not feed my pride, but my gratitude. And may everything I do honor You. Amen.
