The Women and the Empty Tomb.

Have you ever walked toward something you knew was already over… but still couldn’t stop yourself from going?

That’s how they were walking.

It wasn’t faith that moved them that morning… it was love.

It was still dark when they began their walk. The cold air, the heavy silence… and that knot in your throat that won’t go away. They weren’t talking about miracles… they were remembering a goodbye.

They had seen everything.

The pain. The cross. The last breath.

They weren’t confused… they knew Jesus had died.

And yet… they went.

Not to see a miracle.
Not to confirm a promise.
But to honor a body.

Sometimes love makes you keep walking… even when hope is gone.

On the way, a question followed them:
“Who will roll away the stone for us?” (Mark 16:3)

It wasn’t a theological question… it was a real concern.

The stone was too big.
They couldn’t move it.
And they knew it.

That happens to us too.

We keep walking… but carrying things we know we can’t fix.
Situations that overwhelm us.
Doors we don’t know how to open.

But when they lifted their eyes…

The stone was already rolled away.

No one moved it in front of them.
They didn’t see the moment.
They didn’t hear the sound.

It was simply… gone.

God had already done in silence… what they could not do in strength.

They went in.

And there… the strongest blow.

There was no body.

Only a kind of emptiness that makes no sense.

Because there are silences that hurt…
but there are also silences that confuse.

This wasn’t the silence of death… it was the silence of something that was changing history.

Then an angel broke that moment:
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” (Matthew 28:6)

But if we’re honest… that’s not something you process in seconds.

They didn’t come out jumping right away.
The Bible says they left with fear and great joy (Matthew 28:8).

It’s that strange mixture… when God does something so big that your heart doesn’t know whether to cry or rejoice.

And right there… while they were on the way…

Jesus appeared.

No noise.
No announcement.
No spectacle.

He simply… met them on the road.

“Greetings,” He said.

And they did something only someone who truly loves would do:
they came to Him, held His feet… and worshiped Him. (Matthew 28:9)

It wasn’t a cold reaction.

It was an encounter.

Because it’s not the same to know the tomb is empty…
as it is to have Jesus standing right in front of you.

And here’s something very deep…

Jesus didn’t appear to them at the tomb.
He appeared to them on the way.

Right there, between fear and obedience.
Between doubt and faith.
Between pain and hope.

That says a lot.

Because sometimes we think we need to understand everything to see God…
but many times, He reveals Himself when you simply keep walking.

Without understanding everything.
Without feeling everything.
But without stopping.

And even more powerful…

Jesus chose to appear first to them.

To the ones who stayed.
To the ones who didn’t run away.
To the ones who loved even when it hurt.
To the ones who kept walking without guarantees.

They weren’t the most recognized.
They weren’t the most heard in their time.

But they were the most present.

God is not looking for the most prepared…
He’s looking for those who don’t leave.

And maybe today, that’s where you are.

Walking… but tired inside.
Moving forward… but without clear answers.
Wondering who will move that stone you cannot move.

And what you don’t realize is this:

By the time you arrive…
the stone may already be gone.

And not only that…

Maybe along the way…
Jesus is already waiting for you.

Let me leave you with this reflection to keep in your heart: there are moments when everything feels finished, when silence is heavy and emptiness hurts… but God works precisely there, where you cannot see. And many times, He’s not only changing your situation… He wants to meet you in the process.

I invite you to join me in this prayer:

Lord, sometimes I walk without understanding, with a tired heart and more questions than answers. But today I choose not to stop. Even when I don’t see how the stone will be moved, I trust that You are already working. And in the middle of this process, let me find You… not just know about You, but truly experience Your presence in my life. Amen.
