Stay with us until the end… because this story is not only about politics. It is about faith, hope, and a people searching for freedom after many years of suffering.

More than 200 Christian leaders from Iran, representing different churches and organizations, have publicly expressed their support for exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last Shah of Iran.

In a joint statement, these leaders affirmed something that reflects their deep identity and commitment to their country: they described themselves as “an inseparable part of the Iranian nation.”

According to them, Iran is currently facing one of the most decisive moments in its modern history.

A Nation Marked by Pain and Protests

In recent months, Iran has experienced intense protests against the government, many of which have been violently suppressed. Various sources indicate that tens of thousands of people have died as a result of the repression carried out by security forces.

In their statement, the Christian leaders said the government has failed to protect its own people and has instead caused deep harm to the nation.

They argued that, because of actions committed since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the current regime has lost its moral, national, and international legitimacy.

For this reason, they believe a profound political change is necessary for the future of the country.

A Call for National Unity

The Christian leaders emphasized that Iran now needs national unity, responsible leadership, and a transition grounded in wisdom and reason.

Within that context, they declared their support for Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and the program he proposes for the country’s future.

Their message was not presented merely as a political position but as a call to rebuild the nation with values of dignity, justice, and hope.

Remembering Cyrus the Great, the King Mentioned in the Bible

In their statement, the Christian leaders also referred to an important historical figure connected to the Bible: Cyrus the Great.

Cyrus was a Persian king mentioned several times in Scripture. He was the ruler who ordered the release of the Jewish people from their Babylonian captivity and allowed them to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple.

By mentioning this historical moment, the Christian leaders expressed a profound hope:

That Iran could once again become a nation that brings hope and freedom, not only to its own people but also to neighboring countries.

They concluded their message with words of faith, declaring that the living and true God is able to bring healing to broken hearts and restoration to their nation.

The Difficult Reality of Christians in Iran

According to the international organization Open Doors, Iran ranks among the ten countries where Christians face the most severe persecution in the world.

Converting from Islam to Christianity is considered illegal. Even Christians from traditional communities often must meet secretly in house churches, constantly facing the risk of police raids.

Many believers have been arrested under accusations related to “national security,” simply for practicing their faith.

Despite this pressure, the Christian church in Iran continues to grow quietly, demonstrating that faith cannot be extinguished by fear or persecution.

A Reflection for Our Time

This story reminds us of something profound: Christian faith often grows strongest in times of adversity.

While some governments try to control freedom of conscience and religion, the Gospel continues to find ways to reach hearts.

History also reminds us that God has used leaders, kings, and nations to fulfill His purposes. That happened with Cyrus the Great, and it continues to happen today in ways we do not always fully understand.

For believers, the response is clear: to pray for nations, for leaders, and for people who are suffering.

Because ultimately, the true hope of any nation does not lie in a political system or a human leader, but in God, who is able to transform hearts and raise new possibilities where everything once seemed lost.

Let this thought remain in your heart: when a nation cries out for justice, freedom, and healing, God hears.

I invite you to join me in this prayer:

Lord, we lift up the nation of Iran before You.
You know its pain, its struggles, and its history.
Bring peace where there is violence, hope where there is despair, and freedom where there is oppression.
Strengthen the Christians who live there and let Your light shine in the midst of darkness.
Guide nations and leaders toward justice and truth.
Amen.
