It may sound surprising, but the shortest chapter in the entire Bible is Psalm 117, and it contains only 2 verses.
What makes it even more remarkable is that, despite being the shortest chapter, it carries a powerful message. This psalm calls all nations and all peoples to praise the Lord. It is not directed only to Israel, but to the whole world.
Sometimes we think it takes many words to communicate something important. Yet God shows us that a powerful truth can be expressed in just two verses.
This is what Psalm 117 says:
“Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol Him, all you peoples.”
“For great is His steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!”
In only two verses, we find an invitation to all humanity and a powerful reason to respond: God’s love and faithfulness endure forever.
Before we finish, I want to leave you with this thought:
It does not matter how short a passage of Scripture is. What matters is not the number of words, but how much we allow those words to transform our hearts.
I invite you to join me in this prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your love, Your mercy, and Your faithfulness. Help me to praise You not only with my words but also with the way I live. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
