\u201cWhen are you going to have children?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s the question that comes up at every family dinner, every wedding, and every church gathering. It usually comes with a smile and no bad intentions… but it can feel like a heavy burden for a couple who has already made a quiet decision and doesn\u2019t quite know how to explain it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because there are Christian couples who love God, pray together before going to sleep, serve faithfully in their church, and yet carry a question deep inside their hearts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre we doing something wrong by choosing not to have children? Could we be sinning against God?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the answer, according to the Bible, is simpler than many people imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nowhere does the Bible say that it is a sin for a married couple to decide not to have children. There is no commandment requiring every husband and wife to become parents in order to please God. His love for you has never depended on the number of children you have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, we should not ignore something beautiful: from the very beginning, God viewed children as a blessing, never as a burden. In the first book of the Bible, He said, \u201cBe fruitful and multiply\u201d (Genesis 1:28). Throughout Scripture, children are consistently presented as a gift and an inheritance from God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So if it is not a sin, then what is the real issue?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is not the decision itself. It is the heart behind the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because there is a difference between a couple who, after much prayer, reaches a thoughtful decision and feels at peace before God… and a heart that simply wants to avoid responsibilities, sacrifices, or anything that might disturb its comfort. And deep down, only you and God truly know the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God\u2019s Word calls us to something deeper than simply choosing what is most convenient:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding\u201d (Proverbs 3:5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So perhaps the real question is not, \u201cIs it a sin or not?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps the question every married couple should ask while kneeling before God is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre we making this decision to honor God… or simply to please ourselves?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God does not measure our faithfulness by the number of children we have. He looks at the heart. And there, in the secret places of our lives, the real answer is always found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
