There are moments in life when you just want to run away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moments when everyone around you expects you to be strong\u2026 but inside you feel small, insecure, and full of fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And maybe that was exactly what Joshua was going through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From one day to the next, the man who had led the people for so many years was gone.
Moses had died.
And now all eyes were on Joshua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imagine the pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thousands and thousands of people waiting for direction.
Problems everywhere.
Wars ahead.
Huge responsibilities.
And on top of that, living under the shadow of Moses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because honestly\u2026 it could not have been easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joshua had seen how God used Moses in powerful ways.
He had walked closely beside him.
But now he was no longer the assistant.
Now he was the leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I can imagine Joshua asking himself deep inside:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat if I can\u2019t do this?\u201d
\u201cWhat if I fail?\u201d
\u201cWhat if the people don\u2019t listen to me?\u201d
\u201cWhat if I\u2019m afraid?\u201d
\u201cWhat if I\u2019m not enough?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because the same thing happens to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some people want to start something new\u2026 but fear paralyzes them.
Others want to move forward\u2026 but they feel insecure.
Some people have dreams, projects, callings, responsibilities\u2026 but inside they feel anxiety and weakness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And many times the problem is not lack of ability.
It is fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fear of failure.
Fear of making mistakes.
Fear of not being enough.
Fear of being left alone.
Fear of criticism.
Fear of losing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why God told Joshua:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHave I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.\u201d \u2014 Joshua 1:9<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was not just a beautiful phrase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was an instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because God knew Joshua needed to get up even while feeling afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that is something many people need to understand today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faith does not mean sitting around waiting for everything to fall from heaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joshua was not going to conquer the Promised Land sitting back watching life pass by.
He had to get up.
He had to walk.
He had to make an effort.
He had to face battles.
He had to make difficult decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God was going to give him victory\u2026 yes.
But Joshua had to move forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And here comes something very important that many people forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God did not only tell him:
\u201cBe strong and courageous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also told him not to depart from His Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKeep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night\u2026\u201d \u2014 Joshua 1:8<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In other words\u2026 God\u2019s promise also came with obedience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God was going to be with Joshua.
God was going to help him.
God was going to give him victories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Joshua had to remain close to God and obey His Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because God knew something:
if Joshua drifted away from God\u2019s voice, fear would begin to control him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the same thing still happens today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are people who want courage\u2026 but live far from God.
They want peace\u2026 but never seek His presence.
They want strength\u2026 but fill their minds with everything except God\u2019s Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And little by little fear, anxiety, and insecurity begin to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why God kept reminding Joshua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In fact, throughout his story, God and the people repeatedly told him things like:
\u201cDo not fear.\u201d
\u201cBe courageous.\u201d
\u201cDo not be discouraged.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because Joshua constantly needed to remember that he was not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And here comes something else very important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some people read this story and think:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes\u2026 but those words were for Joshua.\u201d
\u201cGod spoke directly to him.\u201d
\u201cThat is not for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And it is true\u2026 God is not speaking to us today exactly the way He spoke to Joshua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But this story was written because the human heart is still the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We still struggle with fear.
We still doubt.
We still feel inadequate when facing big responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the same God who strengthened Joshua still strengthens today those who choose to trust in Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why, even though those words were spoken to Joshua, the principles behind them are still alive today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When God says:
\u201cDo not fear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also teaches us that fear should not rule our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When He says:
\u201cBe strong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reminds us that there are moments when we must rise up and move forward even when we feel weak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When He says:
\u201cBe courageous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He teaches us that faith is not hiding\u2026 it is moving forward while trusting God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when He tells Joshua to remain in His Word day and night, He shows us where true spiritual strength comes from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And honestly\u2026 we need to hear that too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because there are days when we feel strong\u2026
but there are other days when fear tries to take over everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And even then, God still says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGet up.\u201d
\u201cMove forward.\u201d
\u201cBe strong.\u201d
\u201cBe courageous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because you are enough\u2026
but because He will be with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let me leave you with this reflection:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many people think courageous people never feel fear. But the truth is different. The bravest people are often the ones trembling inside\u2026 yet they still choose to move forward trusting God. Joshua was not great because he never felt fear. He was great because he chose to obey God even while feeling afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I invite you to join me in this prayer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lord, help me not to be controlled by fear. Strengthen my heart and teach me to trust You even in the middle of my insecurities. Give me strength to keep moving forward and to remain close to Your Word. In Jesus\u2019 name, amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
