There\u2019s something inside us that reacts immediately when someone hurts us. It\u2019s automatic. We feel the urge to defend ourselves, to respond, to give back. And honestly\u2026 it even feels right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Jesus made it clear in Matthew 5<\/strong>, when He taught: \u201cDo not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other also.\u201d<\/em> He wasn\u2019t giving weak advice\u2026 He was teaching a completely different way to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before that, people said \u201can eye for an eye\u201d as a form of justice. But Jesus goes deeper and says: don\u2019t live reacting like everyone else\u2026 learn to respond like someone who has God within.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because reacting is one thing\u2026 choosing how to respond is something entirely different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you respond with anger, the problem grows. When you repay evil, the cycle never breaks. But when you choose to pause, breathe, and act with self-control\u2026 something changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s not easy. In fact, it\u2019s one of the hardest things to do. \u201cTurning the other cheek\u201d doesn\u2019t mean allowing abuse\u2026 it means not letting evil control your heart. That\u2019s the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Anyone can react\u2026 but not everyone can respond with peace when they have every reason not to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Let me leave you with this thought\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n How many times have you lost your peace just to prove you were right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maybe today it\u2019s not about winning the argument\u2026 I invite you to join me in this prayer\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Father, help me not to react out of anger, but from Your peace. Give me self-control to respond in a way that pleases You, even when it\u2019s not easy. Guard my heart from offense and teach me to live differently.
