Jesus said: \u201cGive to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.\u201d This doesn\u2019t mean you have to give everything to everyone without thinking. It\u2019s not about letting people take advantage of you or saying yes to everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus was teaching something deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At that time, people helped only those who benefited them: family, friends, or those who could return the favor. But Jesus breaks that idea. He says: don\u2019t live with a closed heart. Don\u2019t ignore someone just because they don\u2019t benefit you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When someone asks for help, the first thing we usually feel is doubt: \u201cWhat if they don\u2019t pay me back?\u201d \u201cWhat if they take advantage?\u201d Jesus goes straight to that. He doesn\u2019t want fear to control the way you live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Giving isn\u2019t just about money. Sometimes it\u2019s listening to someone, giving advice, or supporting them in a hard moment. And yes, it also involves wisdom. Not everything is about giving without thinking, but it\u2019s also not about completely shutting yourself off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo not turn your back\u201d means: don\u2019t ignore the need. Don\u2019t become indifferent. Don\u2019t become a cold person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus is forming people with a different kind of heart. People who help not because they expect something in return, but because they understand that God has been good to them first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And here\u2019s something key that we often miss: Jesus is talking about a consistent attitude, not a one-time moment. It\u2019s a way of living. It\u2019s not about helping once when you feel like it, but about choosing not to become hardened over time. Because when someone closes themselves off too much, they stop seeing the needs of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let me leave you with this reflection: maybe today it\u2019s not about how much you give\u2026 but about not closing your heart when someone needs you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
