Jesus, in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 5, took a well-known commandment and went deeper: it\u2019s not only adultery when someone acts\u2026 it\u2019s also when they desire it in their heart. In other words, when a person looks at someone with intention, with desire, with thoughts that don\u2019t belong there\u2026 that\u2019s where it already began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And here\u2019s the key: Jesus went to the root of the problem. Because He knows adultery doesn\u2019t start overnight. It starts in the heart. It starts in the mind. It starts with a look that repeats itself, that is fed\u2026 until one day it becomes an action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s why He used such strong language like \u201cgouge out your eye\u201d or \u201ccut off your hand.\u201d He wasn\u2019t being literal. It was His way of saying: if something is leading you to fall, remove it from your life without excuses. Do what you have to do. This is serious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today we live surrounded by constant stimulation. On social media, it\u2019s common to see sensual content all the time. And we need to be clear: it\u2019s not the same for something to appear without you looking for it\u2026 as it is for you to stay, seek it out, or feed it in your mind. That\u2019s where the root begins to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because sin doesn\u2019t begin in what\u2019s visible\u2026 it begins in what\u2019s invisible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus didn\u2019t soften the message. He went straight to the heart, because that\u2019s where everything begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Take a moment to reflect on this: faithfulness doesn\u2019t begin in your actions\u2026 it begins in your heart. And what you choose to allow in your mind today\u2026 can define your fall or your victory tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
