One of the most dangerous things that can happen inside a church is when faith stops being a living relationship with God and becomes a list of rules, appearances, and family privileges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus strongly confronted legalism. Not because obedience does not matter, but because there were religious leaders who cared more about outward forms than the condition of the heart. In Matthew 23:4, Jesus said that they placed heavy burdens on others, but they themselves were not willing to lift a finger to help them. That still happens when a church measures people only by how they dress, how they speak, what mistakes they made, or how well they fit into the internal culture of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Legalism can make a wounded person walk away from God, believing they are not worthy to come close to Him. But Jesus never treated a repentant sinner that way. He corrected, yes, but He also restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And alongside legalism, another danger appears: nepotism. When positions, ministries, or decisions are given not because of calling, maturity, or testimony, but because someone is a family member, a close friend, or part of the trusted inner circle. That hurts the church, silences true gifts, and creates a sense of spiritual injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The church does not belong to a family, a last name, or a selected group. The church belongs to Christ. And where Christ reigns, there must be humility, justice, service, and reverence for God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I invite you to join me in this final reflection: a healthy church is not the one that looks perfect on the outside, but the one that allows Christ to correct what is crooked on the inside. Where there is legalism, grace is needed. Where there is favoritism, justice is needed. And where there is religious pride, we need to return to the feet of Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
