Many people argue about God\u2019s name\u2026 but very few truly know Him.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are moments in life when we want to address God correctly\u2026 with respect, with truth, without making a mistake. And the question comes up:
Is His name God? Jehovah? Yahweh? Lord? Father?
Am I using the right name?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this is where we need to slow down\u2026 and go back to the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Bible, the closest name God reveals about Himself in the Old Testament is YHWH<\/strong>. This name appears when God reveals Himself to Moses in the burning bush. When Moses asks, \u201cWhat is Your name?\u201d, God responds with something powerful:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI AM WHO I AM.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s something important that many people don\u2019t know: YHWH<\/strong> comes from ancient Hebrew. At that time, Hebrew was written using only consonants<\/strong>, without vowels. That\u2019s why we see those four letters: Y-H-W-H. This is known as the Tetragrammaton<\/strong> (which means \u201cfour letters\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This name is connected to the Hebrew verb \u201chayah\u201d<\/strong>, which means \u201cto be\u201d or \u201cto exist.\u201d So when God says \u201cI AM WHO I AM,\u201d He is revealing that He is eternal, self-sufficient, dependent on no one\u2026 He simply IS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And there\u2019s a detail that many people have found deeply meaningful, even though it\u2019s not a direct teaching of the Bible. Some have noticed that when you try to pronounce YHWH<\/strong> softly, it sounds similar to breathing\u2026 like a gentle inhale and exhale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not a rule or a doctrine\u2026 but it\u2019s a beautiful thought:
that even in something as basic as breathing, we are completely dependent on Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over time, out of reverence, the people of Israel stopped pronouncing that name. It was so sacred that they preferred to say \u201cAdonai\u201d<\/strong>, which means \u201cLord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centuries later, when people tried to recover the pronunciation, forms like \u201cYahweh\u201d<\/strong> emerged (a reconstruction closer to the original Hebrew), and \u201cJehovah,\u201d<\/strong> which appeared much later by combining the consonants of YHWH with the vowels of \u201cAdonai.\u201d It\u2019s not that one is right and the other is wrong\u2026 they are human attempts to pronounce a name that originally had no vowels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, here\u2019s where everything changes\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we get to the New Testament, we don\u2019t see Jesus teaching people to say \u201cYahweh\u201d or \u201cJehovah.\u201d
Jesus does something different\u2026 something closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He says:
\u201cWhen you pray, say: Our Father\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He didn\u2019t say, \u201cpronounce the sacred name perfectly.\u201d
He said, \u201ctalk to Him like a Father.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that is the key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God has many names in the Bible, and each one reveals something about His character:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
