{"id":16465,"date":"2026-04-19T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/somoscristianos.org\/?p=16465"},"modified":"2026-04-19T16:54:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T21:54:16","slug":"the-story-of-stephen-like-youve-never-heard-it-before","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/somoscristianos.org\/en\/the-story-of-stephen-like-youve-never-heard-it-before\/","title":{"rendered":"The Story of Stephen Like You\u2019ve Never Heard It Before."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stay until the end, because what Saul did to Stephen was not only shocking\u2026 it also marked the beginning of the story of the man we would later know as Paul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jerusalem was full of movement. People going in and out of the temple, merchants in the streets, religious debates on every corner. But in the middle of all that noise\u2026 something new was happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A group of men and women were talking about a man named Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They said He had died\u2026 but also that He had risen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And among them, there was someone who was starting to stand out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His name was Stephen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was not an apostle. He did not walk with Jesus like Peter or John. He was one of the seven chosen to serve the community\u2026 but there was something about him that could not be ignored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bible says he was \u201cfull of grace and power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it showed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He helped those in need, served with humility, and when he spoke\u2026 his words were not ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One day, while he was serving, someone watching him said quietly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014This man doesn\u2019t speak like the others\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stephen, without seeking attention, simply responded:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014I only speak what God has placed in my heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But not everyone was happy about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some men from the synagogue began to argue with him. They were educated, they knew the law\u2026 but they could not withstand the wisdom he spoke with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That frustrated them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when they could not defeat him with words\u2026 they decided to attack him another way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They brought false witnesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014This man speaks against the temple and against the law \u2014they said\u2014. We have heard him say things against Moses and against God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And they brought him before the council\u2026 the Sanhedrin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There stood Stephen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Surrounded by the most important leaders of the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And even so\u2026 he did not look afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bible says something striking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll who were sitting there saw his face like the face of an angel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The high priest asked him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014Are these things so?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stephen could have defended himself. He could have avoided trouble. He could have softened what he believed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But he chose to tell the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And he began to speak\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not with anger, but with clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He recalled the history of his people: Abraham, Joseph, Moses\u2026 how God had always guided, spoken, and called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But also how the people, again and again, had resisted God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then, firmly, he said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014You stiff-necked people\u2026 you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The atmosphere broke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was no longer a discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was anger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But at that moment\u2026 something completely different was happening inside Stephen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bible says that, full of the Holy Spirit, he looked up to heaven\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And saw the glory of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And he said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014I see heaven open\u2026 and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They covered their ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They shouted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And together they rushed at him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They dragged him out of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And began to stone him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The witnesses laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Saul\u2026 approved of his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stones kept falling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hard blows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without mercy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Stephen did not respond like anyone else would.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He did not shout in hatred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He did not curse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He did not ask for revenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the middle of the pain, he did something only someone filled with God can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014Lord Jesus\u2026 receive my spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, falling to his knees, he cried out with a loud voice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014Lord\u2026 do not hold this sin against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And so\u2026 he fell asleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was the end of his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But not his impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because that day, while everyone saw the end of one man\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God was already working in the heart of another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same one who approved what was happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same one who watched over the garments of those throwing the stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same one who would later persecute the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But also\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the same one who would one day encounter Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And would be known as Paul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes we think our lives don\u2019t make a difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That what we do\u2026 goes unnoticed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Stephen\u2019s story shows something deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That a faithful life\u2026 can plant something others don\u2019t even understand at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that God can use even the hardest moments\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to begin new stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let me leave you with this reflection\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What would happen if instead of reacting like everyone else\u2026 we started living like Stephen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Full of truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And with a heart capable of forgiving\u2026 even when it hurts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019d like, join me in this prayer\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lord, help me to have a firm heart like Stephen\u2019s.<br>Give me courage to speak the truth, even when it\u2019s not easy.<br>Teach me to forgive even when I\u2019m
