Imagine this\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You\u2019re in a group where everyone knows the same people.
The same names\u2026 the same faces\u2026 the ones always up front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You\u2019ve been there too\u2026 from the very beginning.
You saw everything.
You learned.
You stayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But no one mentions you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No one recognizes you.
No one even looks your way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And still\u2026 you don\u2019t leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not for applause\u2026
but because you know in whom you have believed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stay with me for a moment\u2026 because not every important story in the Bible makes noise. Some pass almost unnoticed\u2026 but they reveal so much about how God works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples for forty days. He spoke to them about the Kingdom, gave them instructions\u2026 and then He ascended into heaven. And that\u2019s when an uncomfortable season begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Silence.
Waiting.
Uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus is no longer physically with them\u2026 but the mission is just beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the middle of that moment, the disciples gather. They are not improvising. They are seeking direction. And Peter stands up and explains something key: what happened with Judas was not an accident outside of God\u2019s control\u2026 it had already been spoken in Scripture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Psalms 69:25 and 109:8, it speaks about another taking his place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That changes everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are not reacting\u2026 they are obeying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So they establish a very clear requirement:
whoever takes his place must have been with Jesus from the beginning, from John\u2019s baptism to the resurrection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This reveals something powerful\u2026
there were more people walking with Jesus than we usually imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not just the twelve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were others\u2026 faithful\u2026 consistent\u2026 without a title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And from among them, two are presented: Joseph called Barsabbas\u2026 and Matthias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two unknown men.
Two hidden lives.
Two stories without recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But before deciding\u2026 they do something that defines everything:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They pray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say to God:
\u201cYou, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one You have chosen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are not asking for human wisdom.
They are recognizing that God had already chosen\u2026 they just needed to discern it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then they cast lots\u2026 but not in the way we understand it today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was not a game, not gambling, not a practice of chance like going to a casino.
It was a method used at that time to make decisions after prayer, trusting that God controlled the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were not depending on \u201cluck\u201d\u2026 they were depending on God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And something important: after the coming of the Holy Spirit, this method is no longer used. From that point on, guidance comes through the Spirit, not through lots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the chosen one was Matthias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
(Matthias means \u201cgift of God,\u201d and that fits deeply with his story\u2026 because his calling was not based on human merit, but on divine choice.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And this is where the reflection becomes deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matthias was not chosen that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matthias had already been formed\u2026 in silence\u2026 in the hidden place\u2026 without applause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Peter was preaching\u2026
while John was close to Jesus\u2026
while the twelve were known\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matthias was there\u2026
watching\u2026 learning\u2026 remaining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No microphone.
No platform.
No recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But God was watching him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that confronts something very real today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We live in a world where it seems that if no one sees you\u2026 you\u2019re not progressing.
If you don\u2019t have followers\u2026 you\u2019re not growing.
If you\u2019re not recognized\u2026 you\u2019re not relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the Kingdom of God works the opposite way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God does not choose the most visible\u2026
He chooses the most faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matthias is proof that time in the hidden place is not wasted\u2026 it is preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And there is something else\u2026 that really makes me think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After being chosen\u2026 Matthias disappears from the narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No books written by him.
No recorded miracles.
No famous speeches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And still\u2026 he was an apostle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do you see it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His value was not in what he did publicly\u2026
but in who he was before God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And still, many have wondered what happened afterward\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bible does not mention Matthias again, and that has raised questions. Some have thought that later God raised up Paul of Tarsus as an apostle in his place. But Scripture never says that Matthias was a mistake, nor that Paul replaced him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paul appears later in Acts chapter 9, called directly by Jesus, with a specific purpose. Several years passed between the choosing of Matthias and the calling of Paul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are not replacements\u2026 they are different callings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let me leave you with this reflection to meditate in your heart\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe you are not on a platform.
Maybe no one recognizes what you do.
Maybe you feel like you are in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But that does not mean God is not watching you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are processes that God works in the hidden place\u2026 because what He is about to raise up\u2026 needs deep roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do not get desperate for visibility.
Be concerned about being faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because when your moment comes\u2026
you won\u2019t have to chase your calling\u2026
your calling will find you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I invite you to join me in this prayer\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lord, help me remain faithful even when no one sees me.
Help me trust that every stage has purpose, even when I don\u2019t understand it.
Guard my heart from seeking human approval, and teach me to live to please You.
And when the time You have prepared comes, let me be ready\u2026 not because of what I did outwardly, but because of what You formed within me.
