Stay with me for a moment\u2026 because this detail may seem small, but it actually says much more than we realize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the middle of the pain, as Jesus was carrying the cross, someone offered Him a mixture of vinegar and gall. It wasn\u2019t an act of pure compassion\u2026 even though it might seem like it. That mixture was used to numb the pain, to ease the suffering of those being condemned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Jesus\u2026 refused it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because He didn\u2019t feel pain.
Not because He was \u201cstrong like in a movie.\u201d
But because He chose to live that moment fully aware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because any of us, in the middle of pain, would look for a way to avoid it, to reduce it, to escape it\u2014even just a little. It\u2019s natural. It\u2019s human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Jesus didn\u2019t come to escape pain\u2026 He came to face it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Gospel shows us that He tasted the mixture\u2026 but did not want to drink it (Matthew 27:34). It\u2019s as if He was saying, \u201cI know what this is\u2026 but this is not the way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus chose to carry the cross fully conscious, without anesthesia, without avoidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that confronts us in a very deep way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because many times, we do the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When something hurts\u2026 we look for distractions.
When something feels heavy\u2026 we try to avoid it.
When life gets difficult\u2026 we look for \u201cemotional anesthesia\u201d: entertainment, pride, anger, even sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We don\u2019t want to feel.
We don\u2019t want to face it.
We don\u2019t want to go through it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Jesus showed us a different way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not the way of suffering just for the sake of suffering\u2026 but the way of complete obedience, even when it hurts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rejecting that drink was not a small act. It was a deep spiritual decision: He would not lessen even a second of what He was doing for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every blow.
Every step.
Every breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would live it fully\u2026 out of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And this is where it touches our lives today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are moments when God doesn\u2019t remove the process\u2026 because He wants to form something in us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not all pain is punishment.
Not every difficulty is abandonment.
Sometimes\u2026 it is transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus didn\u2019t avoid the cross\u2026 He embraced it with purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that changes the way we see our own struggles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe today you\u2019re going through something you wish you could avoid at all costs. Something heavy, exhausting, something you don\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And your natural reaction is to run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But maybe\u2026 just maybe\u2026 God is calling you to walk through it with Him, not to escape it without Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not with resignation\u2026 but with purpose.
Not with despair\u2026 but with faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because when you walk with God in the middle of pain\u2026 that pain is no longer meaningless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let me leave you with this thought to reflect on:
Are you looking for anesthesia\u2026 or are you looking for God in the middle of what you\u2019re going through?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because one numbs you\u2026 but the other transforms you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And if Jesus didn\u2019t avoid the process to save you\u2026 maybe you don\u2019t need to avoid the process to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I invite you to join me in this prayer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lord, many times I want to escape what hurts.
I want quick solutions, easy paths, temporary relief.
But today I understand that You didn\u2019t run\u2026 You remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Give me the strength to face what I\u2019m going through with You.
Teach me not to hide from the process, but to trust what You are forming in me.
Remove from my heart the need to run\u2026 and fill me with faith to remain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in the middle of everything, remind me that I am never alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
