Sometimes the most painful thing is not the blow\u2026 it\u2019s the mockery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imagine the scene for a moment. Jesus is no longer teaching, no longer healing, no longer surrounded by crowds listening to Him. Now He is alone, surrounded by men who are not trying to understand\u2026 but to humiliate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Gospels tell us they covered His face, struck Him, and said:
\u201cProphesy! Who is the one who hit You?\u201d (Luke 22:64)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It wasn\u2019t just physical violence\u2026 it was contempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They covered His eyes\u2026 as if to say:
\u201cLet\u2019s see if You can see now.\u201d
\u201cLet\u2019s see if You really know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And there\u2019s something deep here that we often overlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were standing in front of the Son of God\u2026 and still, they mocked Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because the problem has never been lack of evidence\u2026 the problem is the heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus was not confused.
He was not lost.
He had not stopped being who He was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even though He could not see with His physical eyes\u2026 He knew exactly what was happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And still\u2026 He remained silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He didn\u2019t respond to defend His dignity.
He didn\u2019t use His power to stop them.
He didn\u2019t try to prove anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That confronts us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because we live in a world where we feel the need to respond to everything, to defend ourselves, to prove who we are\u2026 to win every argument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Jesus\u2026 didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He understood something we struggle with:
truth does not need to be defended with shouting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes the world mocks what it does not understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It mocks faith.
It mocks obedience.
It mocks someone who chooses to live differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And it hurts\u2026 of course it hurts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It hurts when people question you.
It hurts when they minimize what you believe.
It hurts when they make you feel like you\u2019re wrong for trusting God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But that moment reminds us of something very important:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mockery of people does not change the truth of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus did not stop being the Son of God because they laughed at Him.
He did not lose authority because they struck Him.
He did not stop being the truth\u2026 even when they treated Him like a lie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the same is true today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your faith does not lose value because someone criticizes it.
Your decision to do what is right does not become wrong because others mock you.
Your relationship with God is not weakened because the world does not understand it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes God allows moments where it feels like He is \u201csilent\u201d\u2026 where it seems like nothing is happening\u2026 but that silence is not weakness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus was in control\u2026 even when He looked vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that changes the way we see our own struggles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There will be moments when people misunderstand you.
Moments when they speak without knowing.
Moments when they \u201chit\u201d you with words, attitudes, or rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And you will feel the urge to react\u2026 to explain\u2026 to defend yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But maybe, in some of those moments, God is teaching you the same thing Jesus lived:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not every attack needs a response.
Not every mockery deserves your energy.
Not everything has to be explained\u2026 when God already knows the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Take a moment to reflect on this\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What if the silence you are experiencing is not defeat\u2026 but part of God\u2019s process?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What if you don\u2019t need to prove anything\u2026 because God already knows who you are?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What if the mockery you face today\u2026 does not define your value, but reveals the hearts of those who do not understand?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I invite you to join me in this prayer\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lord,
there are moments when it hurts to be misunderstood,
when silence feels heavy,
when mockery cuts deeper than I want to admit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Help me not to react from pride,
but to rest in the truth of who You are
and who I am in You.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Teach me to stay silent when needed,
to trust when I don\u2019t understand,
and to remember that Your truth does not change,
even when the world cannot see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Give me peace in the middle of discomfort,
and strength to move forward without losing my heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
