Let me ask you a simple but profound question:
have you ever wondered what you truly are?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most people think we are simply a body with thoughts and emotions. But the Bible teaches something much deeper. Scripture shows that human beings were created with three parts: spirit, soul, and body. And interestingly, the order in which they appear is not accidental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The apostle Paul expressed it this way in a very special prayer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.\u201d
\u2014 1 Thessalonians 5:23<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bible also shows that soul and spirit are not the same, even though they are often confused. For example, in Hebrews we are told that the Word of God can distinguish between the two:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit.\u201d
\u2014 Hebrews 4:12<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paul did not say \u201cbody, soul, and spirit.\u201d
He said spirit, soul, and body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That order reveals something very important about how God designed us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When God created human beings, He did not begin with what is visible. He began with what is inside. Because the most important part of us is not what can be seen\u2026 but what connects us to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let me try to explain this in a simple way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The spirit is the deepest part of the human being. It is the part that can relate to God. It is like a spiritual \u201cantenna\u201d that allows us to perceive God\u2019s presence, feel conviction, have faith, and receive spiritual life. When a person is physically born, their spirit exists, but it is separated from God because of sin. That is why Jesus spoke about being born again\u2014when the spirit comes alive again in relationship with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within that spiritual dimension is also the conscience, which is like an inner alarm God placed in human beings to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. Many times when we feel deep inside that something is not right, it is not just a thought\u2014it is our conscience speaking from the depths of the spirit. When a person draws closer to God, that conscience becomes clearer and more sensitive; but when it is ignored for a long time, it can become hardened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then there is the soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The soul is what we normally call our mind, emotions, and will. It is where we think, where we feel, and where we make decisions. When someone says, \u201cthis is just how I am,\u201d they are often speaking about their soul\u2014their way of thinking, their character, their memories, and their emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The soul is like the control center of our daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, there is the body, which is the visible and physical part of the human being. It is the part with which we live in this physical world: we see, hear, touch, walk, work, rest, and interact with everything around us. The body is not evil in itself; it was also created by God. But it can become dominant when a person lives only guided by desires, impulses, or senses. That is why the body must be submitted to God\u2019s order, so that what is temporary does not rule over what is eternal. The body is like the vehicle that allows us to exist on this earth and express through actions what is inside us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now here is something very interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God designed the human being to live in this order:
spirit \u2192 soul \u2192 body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In other words, the spirit connected with God guides the soul, and the soul directs the actions of the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When that order works properly, life has direction, peace, and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But many times human beings live the other way around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many people are guided first by the body\u2014what they feel, what they desire, what they see.
Others are dominated by the soul\u2014disordered emotions, negative thoughts, anxiety, or pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when the spirit is placed last, life becomes confusing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why Jesus said something that is still deeply true today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.\u201d
\u2014 John 6:63<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus also taught a principle that reinforces this order when He said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.\u201d
\u2014 Matthew 6:33<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In other words, when God occupies the first place in our lives\u2014when we seek Him with our spirit\u2014many of the other things in life begin to fall into place. First God, and then everything else finds its proper order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the spirit is alive in God, everything begins to align.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The spirit receives direction from God.
The soul begins to align with that truth.
And the body begins to live in a different way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This does not mean we stop having emotions or struggles. It means that we are no longer ruled by them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is like a ship that has a captain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The soul and the body can be like the wind and the waves, but the spirit, when united with God, becomes the rudder that keeps the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps today many people feel confused, tired, or empty and do not know why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And sometimes the answer is simpler than we think:
we are trying to live from the body or from our emotions, when God created us to live from the spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the spirit draws near to God, something changes within us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Clarity begins to appear.
Peace begins to appear.
Direction begins to appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because everything becomes perfect\u2026
but because life returns to its original order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I leave you with this reflection to think about calmly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe today you do not need to change everything in your life.
Maybe you simply need to place things back in the right order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First your spirit with God.
Then your soul being transformed.
And then your body living out that new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
